Corporate social responsibility (CSR)

We have always believed in the importance of good Corporate Social Responsibility at Posturite. Our values and ethics, based on respect for individuals and for the environment, have been part of our culture since we started.

Our CSR policy sets out the wide range of initiatives we take, which go well beyond the minimum requirements and clearly demonstrate our real commitment to sustainable business practices. To create a more meaningful CSR programme, we have identified key pillars of particular importance across our work. We will continuously measure and improve these three areas:

Environmental sustainability

Posturite is committed to reducing our environmental footprint by cutting emissions and by using our expertise to source the most responsibly manufactured products. Our unique position allows us to use a stringent sourcing policy with beneficial environmental credentials at its core.

This is the start of our journey in reducing our impact on the natural world. We have already made important strides - BN/EN/ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems certified since 2008 and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. To demonstrate our commitment to environmental sustainability we have removed all fossil fuel from our Head Office in Sussex. Our electricity also now comes from 100% renewable energy (Bioenergy 47.8%, Wind 32.7%, Photovoltaic 11.7%, Hydro 7.8%).

Our Sustainability Policy is based upon the following principles:

  • Comply with, and exceed where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice
  • Integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions
  • Gain the commitment of all staff to our Sustainability Policy
  • Transform the sustainability of all office and transportation activities
  • Use our Sustainability Policy to encourage suppliers and clients to adopt sound sustainable management practices
  • Review, annually report, and continually strive to improve our sustainability performance

We measure scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. We plan to reduce emissions and consider how to offset those measures. More needs to be done and the company will be at the forefront of the industry as we manage resources responsibly to realise our vision of embedding sustainability in all aspects of our business.

We are highlighting the most sustainable products on our website. To attain this mark, a product must have an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) which complies with ISO14025.

People and communities

Our charity partnership with the Stroke Association, shortlisted for two 2024 Business Charity Awards, is an exciting and enjoyable commitment for the entire Posturite team. We all work hard to fundraise, volunteer, donate funds and raise awareness of stroke to help ensure stroke survivors get the very best care and support.

We offer apprenticeships, training, work experience and employment opportunities for people in our local communities, and we set internal targets to ensure that we continue to train and develop our own people.

Every Posturite employee is encouraged to take one fully paid day each year to volunteer for a charity close to their heart. We also sponsor local sports teams to promote physical activity and health in our communities.

Economic responsibility

Posturite strive to operate ethically, ensuring fair practices in all our business dealings, from procurement to sales. We are dedicated to contributing to the local economy by creating jobs, engaging local suppliers, and investing in the development of our employees. We are an accredited Living Wage Employer.

We ensure that there is no Modern Slavery/Human Trafficking in our supply chains or any part of our business. Our policies apply to all individuals working for or on behalf of Posturite, in any capacity.

We strongly believe that inclusion is critical for success and the organisation has taken action to improve the diversity of its workforce that has allowed us to create a culture of openness and active listening to stimulate growth of our business

Monitoring and reporting

We have established key performance indicators (KPIs) for each of these pillars of our CSR strategy, to accurately measure our progress and ensure we are on track to achieve our goals.
